LA28 Ticket Drop 2: Dates, How Selection Works, and What to Do if You’re Picked

Selection emails went out August 6–7 and the purchase window runs August 10–20. Here’s exactly how Drop 2 works — limits, time slots, and what happens next.

More than 12 million people have registered for LA28 tickets, and Drop 1 in April sold over four million of them. Drop 2 is the second public on-sale — and if you registered before the July 22 deadline, you were in the draw. This page explains the whole machine: how selection works, what the email tells you, and the limits that apply when you buy.

The key dates

How selection actually works

Drop 2 uses the LA28 Ticket Draw: a random selection from everyone registered, not a queue and not first-come-first-served. If you’re drawn, your email states the date, time and duration of your personal purchase slot inside the August 10–20 window. Buying happens at the official site, Tickets.LA28.org, powered by AXS and Eventim.

One registration covers everything: once you’ve registered, you’re automatically entered into every future LA28 Olympic draw until you hit your ticket maximum — including the Paralympic draws when those sales open in 2027. There is nothing to re-do between drops.

The ticket limits

What Drop 2 has on sale

LA28 says Drop 2 offers tickets across all Olympic sports and price points, subject to inventory — it exists precisely for fans who weren’t selected in Drop 1, registered late, or haven’t hit their maximum. The Visa Presale, briefly

Just before Drop 2, LA28 ran a separate draw for Visa cardholders with a presale window of July 29–31. If you were selected for that presale, you won’t also receive a Drop 2 slot — the two are mutually exclusive for this round. Everyone else stayed in the Drop 2 draw.

If you’re picked: a 5-minute plan

And if August 7 passed without an email — that’s a draw outcome, not a verdict. [Here’s what’s next](/guides/la28-drop-2-not-selected): more drops are coming, and your registration carries forward automatically.
